Dear Moshe

My family and I can’t thank you enough for being our guide during our recent vacation to Israel. In so many ways you made Israel come alive before our very eyes through your undeniable knowledge of the land, the history (biblical and modern) and the passion of Israel.

What we found most amazing was your capability to successfully address the needs of the three families touring with you. We had nine children from the ages of six to fifteen, their parents and one Safta and you managed to thrill us all.

I think the most memorable moment of the trip was on top of Mount Masada in least 40º C heat when we were rushing back to the cable car with no time to spare and there you were, running and pushing the wheelchair with Safta in it. The word Superman came to mind for all of us!! There were many more extraordinary moments to numerous to mention in this letter but you were such a special part in all of them.

Moshe, we learned with you, we laughed with you and you became much more than a guide to us, you became our friend.

Thank you so much for the lifetime of memories and we hope to see you again soon.

We hope you are doing well. We have been talking about our trip non stop and wish we were back in Israel. You showed us a fantastic time and we can’t wait to be in Eretz Yisrael again.

Thank you so much for the beautiful book on ancient coins and mosaics. Aitan is SOO interested in this kind of thing. You should see how many pieces of pottery we had to take home. While it was completely unnecessary to buy him any gift, he really loves it and appreciates it.

We had a wonderful time in Israel with you. You may get a phone call or two from interested friends of ours. Your tours were full of knowledge, heart, and fun. The children gained so much from you. Thank you for sharing yourself, your knowledge, and your time with us. You're fantastic.

What can I say...we are still flying so high from our fabulous experience in Israel...and so much of that was due to you...Moshe, as we told you in Israel, you made our trip so special...we have all learned so much from you and truly enjoyed every minute with you...the kids miss you and talk about you often...I promised them we will keep in touch and we are already planning our next visit to Israel next December to celebrate Noam's Bar Mitzvah! I hope we will be able to do some more tiyulim with you at that time (you see, I have become so confidant now in my hiking abilities!)...I will keep you posted as to our plans.

Yes, the beautiful piece of pottery you gave to us made it safely back to Ottawa and is displayed on our fireplace...it is a constant reminder of our wonderful trip. Again, many thanks.

Our trip home was smooth and uneventful and we have not stopped talking and thinking about our trip - we find ourselves quite at a loss for words when we try to describe to friends the deep impact Israel has made on us.

But we must tell you that it would have been a totally different experience were it not for you - you brought so much into focus and into life that we would not have otherwise seen. Your enthusiasm was infectious and we truly share your pride in your wonderful country on a personal basis.

We are already talking about when we can return - but have agreed in advance to plan our trip around your availability.

Please accept our sincere thanks for the wonderful time we spent together which we look forward to extending in the not to distant future.

We honestly can't thank you enough for the tour - I really can't call it a tour, though, because it was so much, much more. I learned so much about Israel through our time with you, but I came away with a lot more than a geography lesson. I will never read Tanach the same way again. I will never look at Israel the same way again. I will never approach my Judaism the same way again.

Moshe, thanks so much for fulfilling a lifelong dream. This trip was one of the highlights of my life and I shall never forget it.
